Jebel Ali Free Zone is a free economic area located in the Jebel Ali area on the western edge of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, near -Abu Dhabi. Created under Ruler’s Decree, Jafza began operating in 1985 with standard-sized office units and warehouses to provide ready-made services to customers. In 1990 Jafza expanded its resources to include simple industries. It is the largest free site in the world. More than 7,000 international companies are based in Jafza. This includes about 100 Fortune Global 500 companies. Jafza accounts for about 32 percent of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) revenue. The free zone contributes Dubai’s 21 percent of GDP annually and maintains employment for more than 144,000 people in the United Arab Emirates. In 2015, Jafza acquired a trade worth $ 87.6 billion.
